Full Description

An enclosure of possible post medieval date, which may have been used for the corralling of stock, is visible as an earthwork on aerial photographs of 1946 on Godlingston Heath, Studland. The banked enclosure is sub-rectangular and measures approximately 40 m by 25 m. Breaks in the surround bank, or possible entrances are located on the north and east sides. (1) The enclosure is situated adjacent to an extensive area of trackways (see MDO30852), with which it may have been associated. This feature is marked on the OS 1st edition map and was digitally plotted during the Wild Purbeck Mapping Project.
