Two pits are visible as earthworks on aerial photographs taken in 1945 (1), located on the southern part of Upton Heath. They are considered likely to be the remains of post medieval or later extractive pits. These features were digitally plotted during the Wild Purbeck Mapping Project. They are not visible as on the most recent Google Earth imagery.
