Full Description
A group of post medieval extractive pits and spoil mounds are visible as earthworks on aerial photographs of Upton Heath, Lynchett Minster taken in 1948 (1). Clay and sand pits are shown here on historic OS Maps (2-4). These features were digitally plotted during the Wild Purbeck Mapping Project. Modern OS mapping and recent Google Earth imagery shows that this quarry has since been expanded and is now under operation as Beacon Hill Clay Pits.
