Full Description
Clay pits are marked here on on the First and Second Edition OS Maps (1-2).
A group of pits are visible as earthworks on aerial photographs of Beacon Heath, Lynchett Minster (3-4). They are considered likely to be the remains of post medieval gravel pits. These features were digitally plotted during the Wild Purbeck Mapping Project. They are still partially visible as earthworks on the most recent Google Earth imagery. The site is now in use as a modern caravan and camping site.
