A pit is visible as an earthworks on aerial photographs of Slepe Heath, Arne taken in 1946 (1). It is considered likely to be the remains of a post medieval extractive pit. This feature was digitally plotted during the Wild Purbeck Mapping Project. It is not visible on the most recent Google Earth imagery, this area now being under modern plantation.
