Two circular pits are visible as earthworks on aerial photographs of Slepe Heath, Arne (1). They are considered likely to be the remains of post medieval extractive pits. Alternatively they may be bomb craters associated with Second World War military activity in this area. These features were digitally plotted during the Wild Purbeck Mapping Project. They are still visible on the most recent Google Earth imagery.
