'A' Bowl Barrow (SY 68498843) on W-E ridge above 300 ft. Diam. 38 ft., ht. 5 1/2 ft. Slightly flattened on top and crossed by boundary with former parish of Fordington. <1> <3>

‘The parish, consisting mainly of relatively low ground N. of the Ridgeway, contains only four barrows. … (5) Bowl (SY 68 NE; 68498843) on W.-E. ridge above 300 ft. Diam. 38 ft., ht. 5½ ft. Slightly flattened on top and crossed by boundary with former parish of Fordington.’

Bowl barrow 11.0m diameter and 1.6m high. Situated on a verge between two fields. An E-W fence crosses the N side of the barrow. N of it is an overgrown hawthorn hedge. The mound has been flattened against the hedgeline. This has been caused by ploughing. To the S of the fence the mound is unploughed and covered in grass with a flat top. Basal ploughing has damaged the S perimeter. 1/3/C
