Full Description

Post medieval extractive pits or Second World War anti glider obstructions are visible as earthworks on Newton Heath, Studland. The earthworks are formed of small sub-circular mounds and depressions dispersed over an area measuring approximately 490 m by 400 m. Their function is unclear, but the fact that they are fairly regularly spaced suggests that they may be defensive in origin. (1-2) These features were digitally plotted during the Wild Purbeck Mapping Project.
