Full Description
A dispersed area of possible Second World War weapons pits or post medieval to early modern extractive pits are visible as earthworks on aerial photographs of 1946 and 1951 on Godlingston Heath. The earthworks are formed of small pits, measuring between approximately 2 m by 1 m and 11 m by 5 m, surrounded by banks of spoil. (1-2) They are situated close to the site of a pillbox (see MWX1476) and may have been associated with it. These features were digitally plotted during the Wild Purbeck Mapping Project.
