Full Description

Five post medieval extractive pits are visible as earthworks and cropmarks on lidar imagery of 2010 and aerial photographs of 2005 to the south of Clyffe Copse. The pits are located on Portsdown Chalk Formation and measure between 25 by 30 m and 80 m by 60 m. (1-2) This feature was digitally plotted during the Wild Purbeck Mapping Project.
