Summary

A circular pit is visible as a cropmark on aerial photographs of a field just to the north-east of Organford Manor, Lytchett Minster. It is possible this could be the remains of a bomb crater associated with Second World War activtiy in this area. Alternatively it could be the site of a post medieval extractive pit.

Full Description

A circular pit, approximately 7m in diameter, is visible as a cropmark on aerial photographs of a field just to the north-east of Organford Manor, Lytchett Minster (1). It is possible this could be the remains of a bomb crater associated with Second World War activtiy in this area. Alternatively it could be the site of a post medieval extractive pit. This feature was digitally plotted during the Wild Purbeck Mapping Project.
