Full Description

An area of post medieval chalk pits are visible as earthworks on aerial photographs of the 1970s immediately to the south of Puddletown. The earthworks are visible over an area measuring approximately 325 m by 85 m. The pits are located on the Portsdown Chalk Formation and measure between 10 m by 5 m and 92 m by 45 m. (1) The features were digitally plotted during the Wild Purbeck Mapping Project.
