A post medieval chalk pit is visible as an earthwork on aerial photographs mmediately to the south of Puddletown. The pit is located on Portsdown Chalk Formation and measures 75 m by 20 m. (1-2) The pit is marked on the 1st edition OS map. (3) This feature was digitally plotted during the Wild Purbeck Mapping Project.
