Full Description

An area of six post medieval chalk pits are visible as earthworks on lidar imagery between Puddletown and Athelhampton. The pits are located on the Portsdown Chalk Formation and measure between 10 m by 5 m and 92 m by 45 m. (1) Three of the pits are marked on the 1st edition OS map. (2) The features were digitally plotted during the Wild Purbeck Mapping Project.
