Full Description
Post medieval or early twentieth-century quarrying is visible as earthworks on aerial photographs taken in 1946 on Knighton Heath, Winfrith Newburgh (1). The site is marked as 'Sand Pit' on the OS 2nd editon map. The site is now under scrub vegetation and the features no longer visible on the most recent Google Earth imagery. The site was digitally plotted during the Wild Purbeck Mapping Project.
