Full Description
A linear hollow, 145m by 14m, is visible as earthworks on aerial photographs taken in 1946 on Winfrith Heath (1). The hollow is flanked on it's long sides by linear banks. It is considered likely to be of military origin, possibly an ordnanace disposal trench. The site of the feature is faintly showing as a vegetation mark on most recent Google Earth imagery. They were digitally plotted during the Wild Purbeck Mapping Project.
