Full Description
A post medieval sand pit is recorded at this location on the 1st and 2nd Edition OS Maps (1-2). A pit is also visible here as an earthwork on aerial photographs (3-4), located at the northern end of Highwood Heath. This feature was digitally plotted during the Wild Purbeck Mapping Project. The most recent aerial images available to the project indicate that this feature is now infilled with water and in use as a pond.
