Full Description
Group of barrows on Came Down Golf Course: 'F' Bowl (68498590) 25 yds.N.E.of 'E'. Diam. 54 ft., ht. 2 ft. Used as golf green. <3>
'F' SY 68488589 Diameter 22.0m, height 0.6m. Mutilated by a golf green. No ditch visible around any of the barrows. All resurveyed at 1:2500 on MSD. See ground photographs. <4>
A bowl barrow, part of a group on Came Down Golf Course. Listed by Grinsell as Winterborne Came 13 and by RCHME as Winterborne Came 15. Formerly described by RCHME as a mound 54 feet in diameter and 2 feet high and in use as a golf green. In 1980, the Ordnance Survey recorded it as a mound 22 metres in diameter, 0.6 metres high and "mutilated by a golf green". There were no visible traces of any surrounding ditch. This barrow was formerly described as part of SY 68 NE 77. That record should be consulted for additional sources and further information. <3-4>
Small barrow on Came Down Golf Course, almost flattened. Visible as an earthwork on aerial photographs <7> and digitally plotted for the South Dorset Ridgeway Mapping Project.
