Summary

A Second World War spigot mortar emplacement is visible on aerial photographs of the eastern end of Bincleaves Groyne taken in 1946. A 29-millimetre spigot mortar emplacement located on 'C' head, Bincleaves Groyne, Portland Breakwater. The emplacement was constructed after May 1941 and is built of concrete and steel. A field visit in 1983 found the structure to be in a good condition.

A Second World War spigot mortar emplacement is visible on aerial photographs of the eastern end of Bincleaves Groyne taken in 1946 <4>. This feature was digitally plotted during the South West Rapid Coastal Zone Assessment Survey (Dorset). It still visible at this location on the most recent comprehensive aerial images available to the project <5>.
