29mm Spigot mortar plinth [pedestal].At Portland Breakwater (Bincleaves Groyne), on 'C' head. <1-3>
A Second World War spigot mortar emplacement is visible on aerial photographs of the eastern end of Bincleaves Groyne taken in 1946 <4>. This feature was digitally plotted during the South West Rapid Coastal Zone Assessment Survey (Dorset). It still visible at this location on the most recent comprehensive aerial images available to the project <5>.
