A trackway running approximately east-west across Chesil Beach is visible on aerial photographs taken in the 1940's (1-2). It appears to lead to a rectilinear structure located at its western end. These features are considered likely to be associated with Second World War military activity in this area. They were digitally plotted during the South West Rapid Coastal Zone Assessment Survey (Dorset). They are not visible on the most recent comprehensive aerial images available to the project.
