Monument record MDO29869 - Wyke Regis Bridging Camp, Chickerell, Weymouth

Wyke Regis Bridging Camp is one of three sites associated with Wyke Regis Training Area. The bridgeing camp is located on the bank of the Fleet tidal lagoon, immediately south-west of Lower Bridge Farm, and also includes a section of Chesil Beach opposite. It was established by the army in 1928 and still continues in use for military training purposes today. Various phases of this site are visible on aerial photographs and Lidar imagery. Visible features include buildings and structures, bridges, roads, slit trenches and barbed wire enclosures.

These features were digitally plotted during the South West Rapid Coastal Zone Assessment Survey (Dorset).
