Full Description
Weymouth Pier Bandstand was built to a length of 200 feet in 1939. The architect was V J Venning. It was a popular music venue seating 2400 people, although just 800 of these seats were undercover. In the 1970s, the Bandstand Pier provided amusements, a restaurant and a gift shop. It was demolished in spring 1986, since it had become too expensive to maintain, and only the entrance on the esplanade was retained. The facade to the block was due to be restored after 1998 with the original Art Deco features. <1>
