Full Description

A Second World War barbed wire enclosure is are visible as a structure on aerial photographs of the 1940s on Chesil Beach, to the west of of a Royal Navy fuel store (see MDO19665), Castletown. The site consists of a sub-rectangular barbed wire enclosure, visible on three sides and measuring 145 m by 100 m. (1) A small group of buildings, possibly the site of a light anti-aircraft gun emplacement, is located within the enclosure (see MDO ). This site was digitally plotted during the South West Rapid Coastal Zone Assessment Survey (Dorset).
