Five Second World War wrecks or abandoned vessels are visible as structures on aerial photographs of the 1940s adjacent to the Royal Navy seaplane base (see MDO29763), Portland. The wrecks vary in size, measuring between 20 m and 48 m in length. They may have been used as temporary harbour structures or to reinforce the shoreline. (1) This site was digitally plotted during the South West Rapid Coastal Zone Assessment Survey (Dorset).
