The possible site of a Second World War coastal artillery searchlight is visible as an earthwork on aerial photographs of the 1940s to the south of Balaclava Coastguard Station, Portland. The possible searchlight emplacement consists of a circular bank measuring approximately 14 m in diameter. (1) This site was digitally plotted during the South West Rapid Coastal Zone Assessment Survey (Dorset).
