The bank surrounding a 19th century reservoir is visible as an earthwork on aerial photographs of the 1940s to the south of Balaclava Coastguard Station, Portland. The earthwork consists of a curving D-shaped bank, visible over an area measuring 53 m by 32 m. (1) The site is marked as "Old Reservoir" on the 2nd ed OS map. (2) This site was digitally plotted during the South West Rapid Coastal Zone Assessment Survey (Dorset).
