Three possible 19th to early 20th century mine shafts are visible as earthwork on aerial photographs of the 1940s within the western edge of Tout Quarries, Portland. The shafts are sub-square in shape and measure up to approximately 3 m by 2 m. (1) Traces of the shafts can still be seen on recent aerial imagery. (2) This site was digitally plotted during the South West Rapid Coastal Zone Assessment Survey (Dorset).
