ANTI AIRCRAFT GUN EMPLACEMENT. SRF LAA Isle of Portland Recorder- R. Perry. <1-3>

A Second World War light anti-aircraft gun emplacement is visible as a structure on aerial photographs of the 1940s at the northern edge of Tout Quarries and to the south of Fortuneswell, Portland. The structures consist of three possible gun emplacements and a group of associated buildings. The site covers an area measuring approximately 86 m by 40 m. Slit trenches are located to the north and east of the site (see MDO29708 and MDO29710) and may have been associated with it. <5> This site was digitally plotted during the South West Rapid Coastal Zone Assessment Survey (Dorset).
