Full Description

Four possible Second World War slit trenches are visible as earthworks on aerial photographs of the 1940s at the northern edge of Tout Quarries and to the south of Fortuneswell, Portland. The trenches are formed of angled ditches, measuring up to 13 m in length, flanked by banks. The trenches are located to the north a light anti-aircraft battery (see MDO29709) and may have been associated with it. (1) This site was digitally plotted during the South West Rapid Coastal Zone Assessment Survey (Dorset).
