Full Description

A line of 19th century to modern buildings, which may be military in nature or connected with quarrying activity in the area, are visible as structures on aerial photographs of the 1940s, to the north east of the lighthouse at Portland Bill. The line of buildings extends along the coast adjacent to the line of the former mineral railway (see MWX4399) over an area measuring approximately 130 m by 15 m. One of the buildings may be the storehouse described in MDO19690. The buildings are no longer extant. (1) This site was digitally plotted during the South West Rapid Coastal Zone Assessment Survey (Dorset).
