Full Description

A dark line is visible on aerial photographs taken in 1942 to the west of Burton Freshwater (1). The feature lies inside the line of Second World War anti-tank cubes (MDO29621) and is possibly a barbed wire entanglement. The feature is no longer visible and was presumably removed soon after the end of the war. It is one of several lines of beach defences which also included a mine field (MDO29622). The features were digitally plotted during the South West Rapid Coastal Zone Assessment Survey (Dorset).
