A dark linear mark is visible on aerial photographs taken in 1942 running from clifftop to clifftop to either side of Eype Mouth and curving inland for 130m. The feature is considered to be a barbed wire defence dating to the Second World War. (1). The features were digitally plotted during the South West Rapid Coastal Zone Assessment Survey (Dorset).
