Summary

A ring ditch is visible as a cropmark on aerial photographs of Rings Hill. Its close proximity to Flower's Barrow Iron Age hill fort (MMDO7654) suggests it could be the remains of a round barrow or hut circle contemporary with this. Alternatively it could be a natural fungus ring cropmark.

Full Description

A ring ditch, approximately 15.2m in diameter, is visible as a cropmark on aerial photographs of Rings Hill (1). Its close proximity to Flower's Barrow Iron Age hill fort (MMDO7654) suggests it could be the remains of a round barrow or hut circle contemporary with this. Alternatively it could be a natural fungus ring cropmark. This feature was digitally plotted during the South West Rapid Coastal Zone Assessment Survey (Dorset).
