Full Description
A post medieval chalk pit is shown here on the first edition Ordnance Survey Map (1). A group of pits are visible at this location as earthworks on aerial photographs (2-3) and Lidar imagery (4). They are considered likely to be the remains associated with this chalk extraction. They were digitally plotted during the South West Rapid Coastal Zone Assessment Survey (Dorset). They are not visible on the most recent comprehensive aerial images available to the project.
