Full Description

Site of Second World war heavy anti aircraft battery at Parkestone Bay. It was armed with four 3.7-inch mobile guns and GL Mark IA radar in 1942. <1>

A cluster of seven buldings with associated trackways, banks and walls, possibly the remains of a Second World War Heavy Anti-Aircraft Battery, is visible on aerial photographs <2> taken in 1945 at Whitecliff Harbourside Park. The site is not visible on the most recent comprehensive aerial imagery available to the project <3>. This site was digitally plotted during the South West Rapid Coastal Zone Assessment Survey (Dorset).
