Full Description

A small group of medieval strip lynchets is shown on RCHM plan (with SY 97 NE 14), but not described in the text, just north of Renscombe Farm, on North Hill, at SY 966779. <1>

The strip lynchets centred at SY 96657790 occupy c3.5 hectares of a level arable field. The six or seven surviving strips, which lie on a NW/SE axis, have been almost completely ploughed out and are now difficult to trace; even their widths cannot be measured with any accuracy because the field is regularly ploughed across the ridges. No survey action. <2>

It is of uncertain origin, potentially prehistoric or medieval in date. The site was digitally plotted during the South West Rapid Coastal Zone Assessment Survey (Dorset).
