Full Description
A Second World War miltary camp is visible on aerial photographs of the 1940s and 1950s to the west of Durlston Head, Swanage. The site consists of: two areas of buildings; defensive banks on the southern side; at least two air raid shelters; a banked rectangular enclosure with three structures within it on the northern side of the site; and connecting pathways and roads. Several pathways or trackways extend from the the western side of the site. The site covers an area measuring approximately 275 m by 180 m. (1-3) The site is now covered by a car park. This site was digitally plotted during the South west Rapid Coastal Zone Assessment Survey (Dorset).
