Full Description
A circular banked enclosure, possibly part of the group of earthworks known as Studland Circles, is visible as a cropmark on aerial photographs of 1982 on Studland Heath, to the north west of Greenlands Farm, Studland. The earthwork is formed of a sub-circular banked enclosure with an internal ditch, measuring approximately 22 m in diameter. (1) The date and function of the Studland Circles is unclear but excavation work carried out on one of the circles in 2009 suggested that they may be post medieval in origin. (2) Two other groups of circles are located to the north west (see linked records). This site was digitally plotted during the South West Rapid Coastal Zone Assessment Survey (Dorset).
