A probable post medieval extractive pit is visible as a cropmark on aerial photographs of 1951 to the east of King Barrow, Studland. The pit is sub-circular and measures 19 m in diameter. (1) The pit may have been used for the extraction of chalk or gravel. This site was digitally plotted during the South West Rapid Coastal Zone Assessment Survey (Dorset).
