A possible Second World War gun emplacement is visible as an earthwork on aerial photographs of the 1940s to the east of Salterne, Studland. The site is formed of two horseshoe-shaped structures, located one in front of the other on an east-west alignment. The site may have been associated with coastal defences, or with an area of military training (see MDO29036, bomb craters). (1) This site was digitally plotted during the South West Rapid Coastal Zone Assessment Survey (Dorset).
