Two lines of pits, are visible on aerial photographs of the 1940s, extending along the coast on the cliff edge, to the south east of Studland. (1) They are considered likely to be the site of a removed Second World War minefield. This site was digitally plotted during the South West Rapid Coastal Zone Assessment Survey (Dorset).
