Monument record MDO29006 - Possible Second World War military site, Fitzworth Heath, Corfe Castle

Two groups of numerous small circular hollows are visible as earthworks on aerial photographs of Fitzworth Heath. They are considered likely to be the remains of a military site associated with Second World War activities in this area, perhaps the remnants of foxholes or shell holes.

Two groups of numerous small circular hollows are visible as earthworks on aerial photographs of Fitzworth Heath (1-2), located at NGR SY99099 86227 & SY98859 86132. They are considered likely to be the remains of a military site associated with Second World War activities in this area, perhaps the remnants of foxholes or shell holes. These features were digitally plotted during the South West Rapid Coastal Zone Assessment Survey (Dorset). Athey are not visible on the most recent comprehensive imagery available to the project (3).
