Full Description

An oval pit, approximately 7.3m x 9.8m, is visible as a cropmark on aerial photographs of Ower Heath (1). It is considered likely to be the remains of an extractive pit of probable medieval or post medieval date. It appears to be surrounded by extensive spoil remains. This feature was digitally plotted during the South West Rapid Coastal Zone Assessment Survey (Dorset). It is not visible on the most recent comprehensive imagery available to the project (2).
