A pit is visible as an earthwork on aerial photographs of South Middlebere Heath (1). It is considered likely to be the remains of an extractive pit of post medieval or modern date. This feature was digitally plotted during the South West Rapid Coastal Zone Assessment Survey (Dorset). It is not visible on the most recent comprehensive imagery available to the project (2), the area now being obscured by scrub.
