A group of trackways criss-crossing the heathland of South Middlebere are visible as earthworks on aerial photographs. They are probably of historic date, although some are also likely to be associated with Second World War activities in this area (MDO28972).

A group of trackways criss-crossing the heathland of South Middlebere are visible as earthworks on aerial photographs (1). They are probably of historic date, although some are also likely to be associated with Second World War activities in this area (MDO28972). They were digitally plotted during the South West Rapid Coastal Zone Assessment Survey (Dorset). Some of these features are still visible as earthworks on the most recent comprehensive imagery available to the project (2).
