Summary

An oval pit is visible as a cropmark on aerial photographs of a field east of Arne Farm. It is located just to the south of the where the remains of a Roman occupation site have been recorded (MDO7062) and it is possible the pit may be associated with it.

Full Description

An oval pit, approximately 4.9m x 2.5m, is visible as a cropmark on aerial photographs of a field east of Arne Farm (1). It is located just to the south of the where the remains of a Roman occupation site have been recorded (MDO7062) and it is possible the pit may be associated with it. It was digitally plotted during the South West Rapid Coastal Zone Assessment Survey (Dorset). This feature is not visible on the most recent comprehensive imagery available to the project (2).
