Full Description
A three-sided rectilinear banked feature, approximately 6.2m x 7.3m, is visible as an earthwork on aerial photographs of Arne Farm taken in 1947 (1). It was located in the north-east corner of a field just to the east of Arne Farm. A Second World War heavy anti aircraft battery (MWX675) is located just to the west of Arne Farm and it is considered possible that this earthwork feature may have been a gun emplacement associated with the battery. It was digitally plotted during the South West Rapid Coastal Zone Assessment Survey (Dorset). This feature is no longer visible on the most recent comprehensive imagery available to the project (2), probably having either been demolished or plough-levelled..
