Full Description
A Second World War slit trench is visible as an earthwork on aerial photographs of 1945 in an area now covered by housing to the west of Harbour Road. The trench may have been associated with the defences around the Chain Home radar site (see MD28870) or RAF Southbourne (see MWX1164). The trench is zig-zag in form, aligned north-south and measures approximately 55 m in length. (1) This site was digitally plotted during the South West Rapid Coastal Zone Assessment Survey (Dorset).
