Full Description

Two areas of Second World War defences are visible as earthworks on aerial photographs of 1947 on and to the north of Warren Hill, Hengistbury Head. A V-shaped double line of pits is located on Warren Hill, measuring 345 m in total length. A north-south aligned double line of pits is located to the north of Warren Hill, measuring 160 m in length. A linear bank and ditch and a line of nine pits are located adjacent to the east. These features may be aircraft landing obstructions or the sites of removed minefields. (1) This site was digitally plotted during the South West Rapid Coastal Zone Assessment Survey (Dorset).
