Monument record MDO28735 - Post medieval field boundaries, Brownsea Island, Studland

Two field boundaries which may be post medieval in date are visible as earthworks on aerial photographs of 1947 on low lying land to the east of St Andrew's Hill, Brownsea Island.

An area of post medieval drainage is visible as an earthwork on aerial photographs of 1947 on low lying land to the east of St Andrew's Hill, Brownsea Island. The area of drains measures 105 m by 53 m with drains oriented south west-north east. The drainage may be associated with former reclamation of this low lying area of land. Further areas of drainage and two field boundaries are located to the west (see MDO28732-4). (1) This site is not visible on the most recent comprehensive aerial imagery available to the project. (2) This site was digitally plotted during the South West Rapid Coastal Zone Assessment Survey (Dorset).
